Getting Started with Organization

Beginning the process of organization can often be the most difficult part. While some of it is specific to each person, and even each situation, there are some basic steps to go through, regardless of who you are and what your situation is.

  1. Choose a space. If it is a room, choose a closet, corner or section of the room to begin with.
  2. Remove all items that belong in a different space.
  3. Sort all items in the space by category.
  4. Go through the items, deciding what you will donate, sell, throw away, and keep. When trying to decide whether you will sell items, make sure you actually have time to do it. If they are going to continue to sit in your home taking up space because you won’t sell them, donate them. Be honest with yourself here.
  5. Using organization items you have, or purchasing items to fit the space, put the items you have in place by category.

Do you need more help to go through the process? I can help you make these decisions and give you tips along the way to make the process easier. My job is to help you with the overwhelm and make getting through the process feel less daunting.

I work in three to four hour sessions in-person, or one to three hour sessions online, depending on what your needs are. My sessions truly are customized to you, so you get what you need to make your space work the best for you and your family.
