Regardless of what closet or other bedroom storage you have, finding a place for shoes, jewelry, and other clothing accessories, is a functional need. Being able to see what you have and find what you want quickly is very important. So, whether you are looking to try to work with what you already have, or find affordable solutions, here are some ideas to help make that happen.

Start with a bag for trash, a bag or box for items to giveaway, and a bag or box for items to keep. After it is determined what items are being kept, those items are separated into categories.
Determine what bins, totes, and trays you already have. While everyone would love to go and start with all new solutions, that isn’t practical or budget-conscious. Here are a few simple tips on how to get those ideas flowing and hopefully help you get things organized as well.
Let’s start with alternative clothing organization ideas.

Like any other organization project, one of the best ways to use ALL of your space is to go vertical. Using stackable bins like these that can be hung on the wall or rack, or sat on the floor, offers a great solution.

Another great solution for using your vertical space for clothes is this roll keeper, which can be hung on a wall or door. It works great for t-shirts, leggings, and more. Plus, you can see what you have at a glance.

If you already have shelves in your closet but need to try to keep your items separated and in order, these shelf dividers are a great solution. I use them for clothing, shoes, bags, towels, sheets, and more.

Now on to shoe organization.
Most of the ideas for clothing will work for shoes too, but here are some of my favorite shoe specific organization ideas.

For those with limited space and a need to use every place they can, these hanging strips for shoes give you the opportunity to create shoe storage on walls, cabinets, and more.

Do you have a tote lying around you aren’t using? Go to your local liquor store and ask them for a wine box divider, or two depending on your tote size. This works great for any “flat shoes”, like tennis shoes or sandals.

Are you looking for a shoe solution that is easily adjustable to your space? These shoe storage boxes are a good option. This is a less expensive solution, but there are others available too.

Finally some jewelry organization.
If you are like me and have a bunch of pieces of jewelry, then having a way to find the pieces you want when you want them, is pretty important. I like to wear different jewelry with different outfits, so while I have certainly paired down, and continue to periodically, I really do use the pieces I have. So if you are like me, or you just need some ideas for keeping the pieces you have in order, here are a few.

One way to organize your jewelry is to use a hanging organizer, in your vertical space. This one is two-sided, so you can use the pockets for earrings, bracelets, and rings, and the metal hooks for necklaces.

This is a bit of a splurge, but if you have a lot of jewelry, I think it is worth it. The many options, including holes, pouches, drawers, and shelves, allow for storing different items. Plus, it has a mirror on the front.

Another vertical option for necklaces is this set of wall-mounted pegboards. It can be hung on any wall or cabinet, and as you can see, it can hold many necklaces, including chunkier and long ones. Plus, it is a budget-friendly option.
