Spread Kindness

Am I the only one who feels beaten up right now? It seems no matter what side of any opinion you are on, someone feels the need to be nasty. I am all for healthy, respectful debate, but this isn’t it.

So, rather than join in on the nastiness, why don’t we start a new wave? A wave of kindness. Use whatever you need for inspiration, whether it is the simple morals we teach young children about sharing and kindness, or realizing life is too short to spend so much of it in anger and bitterness. I say we get inspired to spread kindness.

There are more ideas on spreading kindness than I could possibly put here, but here are a few. Even during a pandemic, we can reach out to our friends, neighbors and those we do not know, and we don’t necessarily need to spend money either. So here are just a few ideas to get your wheels turning.

  1. Buy coffee for the person behind you in line at the coffee shop.
  2. Pay for the person’s food order behind you.
  3. Send someone a virtual gift card for food or take them a meal. In times of social distancing, you can always send a text or call them after you have left it on the porch.
  4. Know someone who has a sick loved one? Send them a virtual gift card for food, take them a meal or groceries.
  5. For someone struggling financially or not able to get out, send them a grocery order.
  6. Send out notes to people telling them how much they mean to you. I picked a different group of people each week, i.e. first week friends, second week cousins, third week coworkers, etc.
  7. Rake your neighbors leaves, shovel their snow or mow their lawn.
  8. Walk someone’s dog.
  9. Compliment a fellow shopper, cashier or someone else you see.
  10. Offer to shop for groceries for a neighbor who is high risk or disabled.
  11. Call someone you know is lonely.
  12. Send cards to children in the hospital or adults in nursing homes.

I would love to hear your ideas too! Let’s bless others instead of beating up on them. It makes a difference in everyone’s outlook when people are kind to them.
